Rebecca Maury, MD

Rebecca Maury, MD is the founder of Herbal Care Rx. Founded in early 2018 as the first dispensaries opened in PA, her goal initially was simply to be able to facilitate cannabis access  for her hospice patients. She quickly realized the need in her community for an efficient, affordable certification process, and Herbal Care Rx was born. Years later, Herbal Care Rx continues to set the standard for low-cost, compassionate certifications across the entire state of Pennsylvania.  

As a young woman, Dr. Maury was fascinated by alternative modalities of healing. She moved to New Mexico in the late ‘80’s to pursue this interest, studying with an array of leaders in the alternative medicine movement.  She graduated from the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics in 1990 and the Southwest School of Botanical Medicine in 1992, during which time her interest in the healing potential of cannabis was sparked; it was also through those early years of study that she decided to become a physician.   

After obtaining a BS in Biology and Chemistry at University of New Mexico, she attended medical school, also at UNM.   

She moved to Philadelphia and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, then completed additional training in Hospice and Palliative Care, eventually helping to found the Palliative Medicine consultation service at TJUH.  

She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Hospice/Palliative Medicine and has been a practicing physician in both fields for 20 years. She is dedicated to alleviating the suffering of people with chronic or terminal illness.   

She remains amazed by the medicinal properties and therapeutic potential of the cannabis plant.
