Qualifying Conditions

Under the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Act, “serious medical conditions” are defined as any one of the following: (listed in alphabetical order)
- Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
- Anxiety.
- Autism.
- Cancer, including remission therapy.
- Chronic Hepatitis C
- Crohn’s disease.
- Damage to the nervous tissue of the central nervous system (brain-spinal cord) with objective neurological indication of intractable spasticity, and other associated neuropathies.
- Dyskinetic and spastic movement disorders.
- Epilepsy.
- Glaucoma.
- HIV / AIDS.
- Huntington’s disease.
- Inflammatory bowel disease.
- Intractable seizures.
- Multiple sclerosis.
- Neurodegenerative diseases.
- Neuropathies.
- Opioid use disorder for which conventional therapeutic interventions are contraindicated or ineffective, or for which adjunctive therapy is indicated in combination with primary therapeutic interventions.
- Parkinson’s disease.
- Post-traumatic stress disorder.
- Severe chronic or intractable pain of neuropathic origin or severe chronic or intractable pain.
- Sickle cell anemia.
- Terminal illness.
- Tourette syndrome.

Your first step will be registering with the Pennsylvania Department of Health's medical marijuana program and creating an account in their online system.

To complete your registration, PA law requires that you are certified by an approved physician after you create an account. You can book that appointment with us!
Before your appointment with the doctor, we will help you make sure you have all the pieces in place for a smooth certification appointment.

Once you schedule with us and we confirm that everything is in order for your appointment, the doctor will give you a phone call.
All appointments now take place over the phone. There's no need to go to a physical location, and everyone in Pennsylvania is eligible.

Navigate back to the Department of Health website and log-in with the account you created in Step 1.
Go to the tab that says "Make a Payment", fill in your payment info, and submit.
5. Wait for your card to arrive
After you have made a payment the DoH will process, print and ship your card to you. A process that can take up to 2-3 weeks.
6. Visit your preferred dispensary

What does getting my MMJ card actually cost?
At the Department of Health
All patients pay the Department of Health $50 for their MMJ cards. These cards are valid for 1-year.
Renewing your MMJ card with the Department of Health also costs $50, and you will be issued a new card
With Herbal Care Rx
Part of our mission is making medical cannabis (also known as medical marijuana) accessible to those who need it; this includes keeping the costs for patients low. We have some of the lowest rates in PA, especially for Veterans!
For your medical marijuana certification consultation, you will pay either
- $125 as a new patient
or
- $75 as a renewing patient
or
- $75 as a new patient Veteran or receiving SSI benefits
What's the total cost?
At most, acquiring your medical marijuana card will cost $175 ($50 card fee + $125 consultation fee) or $125 ($50 card fee + $75 consultation fee)
